‘Functional Art’ is the inspiration behind this handmade, versatile piece. It functions as a Backgammon table with detachable legs which allows the playing surface to be moved to another location – such as on top of an ottoman. The table is made from American Walnut, Maple, bog oak (which has lain Fenland bogs for thousands of years!) and resin. The playing surface incorporates all these materials to create a one-of-a kind contemporary piece of furniture. Blue resin of differing shades surrounds the playing surface (other colours are available by commission) and American Walnut has been used to make the tray sides. Four layers of heat resistant resin have been applied to create a smooth ‘watery’ finish and protect the surface from drinks when used as an ottoman tray. The tray sits on American Walnut cross-legs and is protected with a suede base. The Counters are made from brass and resin and along with the dice come in a handmade American Walnut box and matching resin colourway.
